it's no fairy tale, take it from me
WINCHESTERS AND STARKS
ARGH
MY HEART
First the Red Wedding (which, btw, not cool Walder Frey, there is such a thing as hospitality) happens, and then I learn that they chopped off Robb's head and sewed on Grey Wind's. I was at school when I read through it, so there was no wall-throwing, but I did punch a lot of pillows when I got home.
Really, Martin? Really? I get it, you want to put us fans through the worst hell possible, but that was just a dick move.
But that didn't make me cry, though I came close.
And then I remembered that Supernatural aired today, and immediately watched the newest episode.
I was actually just coasting along pretty well. Oh, hey, typical monster of the week stuff, I've missed that, though I did wish there was a flashback in there somewhere. Oh, I got that flashback all right.
"Never seen a birthday cake before? Come on, eat!"
Nine words. And that broke the dam.
Yes, Sam's seen a birthday cake before. But I think he's never really seen a perfect homemade cake before. Dean certainly remembered, but his attempts at baking were, at best, pitiful, and Jess went for the safe option of buying from a store because she had absolutely no skill at baking.
So the birthday cake scene? BROKE MY HEART. CONGRATULATIONS, SPN.

So I told my friend, who's just finished Mark of Athena today, the idea the ending had set off for my brain.
She said "go for it!" And then asked me if I could let her read it, afterwards.
...UM. I'LL. I'LL JUST FINISH IT FIRST IF I EVER DO. It's not even a concrete idea whyyyyy.
