1. stars
It's a silly thought, but he thinks maybe her eyes look just like stars.
2. breakfast
In the Stark household, breakfast on Sundays is something of an event. The first time he brings her there after their wedding, Arya almost immediately starts off a food fight.
And as Asha came by this time, well, they aren't so lucky.
3. fountain
Theon gives the wishing fountain one look and wonders just how it was that Robb had managed to find the love of his life there, while all Theon ever got from it was an empty pocket.
4. wish
"Do I know you?" he asks, and it feels as if her world has just been yanked out from under her.
"Once," she says. I wish you still did.
5. moon
"I can't, I can't, I'm sorry--"
Loras sighs, opens Theon's phone and dials the first number he sees. Of course it's Robb Stark, ever since they met up and sorted out their differences the two men have been as close as brothers again.
"Hello?"
"Stark, hey," Loras greets him. "This is Loras Tyrell. Greyjoy's having a fit."
"Ah." There's a sigh. "I take it rhyming was involved?"
"It's a Shakespeare play, rhyming's always involved." He glances at the young man shuddering in the corner. "He just couldn't take it after the moon line."
"I'm coming already," Stark says. "Just keep him calm and don't mention rhyming or reek, all right? It'll make things worse."
There's worse. As if seeing someone like Theon pleading brokenly for mercy isn't bad enough, apparently there's worse. "All right," he says, and tries not to think about how badly the past has managed to scar some people. After all, the show must go on, and he needs to find a new Romeo.
6. hands
Jeyne's hands were soft and gentle, the hands of a highborn lady. Elle's are just as soft, but with those hands she writes laws and contracts, and with those hands she can make him fall apart easily, and he wouldn't change that for the world.
7. lips
They're young and afraid of what happens next, of what the future holds for two kids from a small town, but when he bends down to brush his lips over hers he thinks maybe he can handle it, so long as she's with him.
8. night
The school is loud enough during the day, with students around to mask the ghost's noises, but at night the rattling of chains is louder than the music she's using to drown it out. She's almost afraid to turn around, because she knows she'll see a young man with haunting blue eyes, if not a monster with a wolf's head.
She doesn't know which would be worse to see, and she doesn't know which would be worse to feel: fear or pity.
9. sleep
Robb doesn't sleep very well, so it's not unusual for one of his siblings to climb into his bed and curl up beside him. He sleeps better when there's human warmth beside him, after all, an anchor he can hold on to in the darkness.
10. child
Robb gives Theon and the little boy clinging defiantly onto his arm a look, and says, "We're not keeping him, you know. I'm sure he has parents around here."
"They died a year ago," the boy says. "I been fendin' for myself ever since."
"We're keeping him," Theon says.
11. crown
He may be a boy, but at the same time he is a king, and the crown weighs heavy on his head, and a part of her wishes he could take it off and run away with her. But he has his duty, and so does she.
12. heart
"Well," Dany cheerfully says, "happy Valentine's Day to the happy couple. I would've gotten you a real one, but these days it's frowned upon to kill horses for their hearts."
Robb looks down at the horse heart-shaped cookie, then at Une, who's broken off a piece. "Uh, thanks."
13. envy
He knows that he shouldn't be jealous, because technically they're just friends with the occasional sex, but his hand still clenches into a fist when he sees her smiling and laughing with someone else.
14. perfume
She glances down at the perfume bottle (Winter Rose, it reads), and then looks up at Robb, and smiles before pulling him in for a kiss.
15. dawn
He gives her one last kiss come the daybreak, then takes up his sword and walks out of the tent, and she knows that he might not come back today.
16. sacrilege
"--oh my god, yes, yes, Robb--"
Well, damn, Ygritte thinks as she closes the door to the confessional room, already planning out a picnic in her head, she's winning.
17. eyes
"You have your mother's eyes," he whispers to the little girl sleeping in her crib, and places a kiss on her forehead before going back to a cold, empty bed.
18. wedding
"Well," Catelyn remarks, when she receives the news that Edmure and Roslin are off in Pentos celebrating their honeymoon, "I suppose they made the right decision this time, not inviting anyone to their wedding."
19. tears
It isn't until the mourners have left that she collapses at the grave, tears flowing freely from her eyes as she gasps for breath, you promised you wouldn't leave.
20. forgetting
"You know, Robb," Jon says one night, when they're both out drinking at a bar, "I think it's obvious she makes you happy."
Robb blinks, looks up from his glass. "Yeah?" he asks, as if he doesn't know what Jon is saying.
"When you're with her," he clarifies, "you look as if you've forgotten about all your problems. And speaking as someone who is hopelessly in love, you should really talk to her before you have another problem on your hands."
Robb coughs, then changes the subject, but Jon can see that he's starting to consider it, and he thinks, Knew it.
It's a silly thought, but he thinks maybe her eyes look just like stars.
