All right, as we all know, Christmas is approaching! And since I'm in a writing mood, why not try this?
the CHRISTMAS DRABBLE meme
The rules are simple:
1. Prompt me! As a note, I can write anything for any of the fandoms listed below, even crossovers. The only thing I won't write is smut, so, sorry for those who wanted some?
2. I write drabbles for you!
3. Everyone profits!

I'd like a Kotetsu x Barnaby drabble, please. Prompt is ¨Japanese Christmas¨ (I guess you probably know it but just in case, in Japan, Christmas is considered more a romantic holiday than a family holiday. So, when you invite someone to spend Christmas with you it means a)you are declaring your love or b)you want your existing relationship to be more ¨serious¨).
Thanks in advance =D
of old traditions (kotetsu/barnaby)
Really, truly alone.
Kotetsu had retired, gone back home to be with his family, without any of them saying anything to each other that could somehow address their growing feelings for one another. Such an idiot he was, letting him go without telling him, without at least trying to tell him. He had so many chances, on the ride to the station...
And now he was alone all over again, with less than what he had before.
He'd make it, he was sure. He'd get through this Christmas like he had all the others: ignoring it (and the ache in his chest) to the best of his ability.
He punched in the key code to his flat, readjusted his bag, went inside--
--and tripped over a stray bottle of beer, apparently from the day when his partner had been released from the hospital.
The contents of his bag went flying, spilling out on the floor.
He muttered a curse as he staggered to his feet, then bent down to pick up the various items that had gone all over the place when he noticed a piece of paper that he was sure he hadn't placed in his bag.
He picked it up, unfolded it, and couldn't help but smile when he read its contents.
"Bunny,
When I was younger, I used to hear about this old tradition where people would invite people they liked over to spend Christmas at their place so they could tell them they loved them. And...well, over the past few weeks I've started to realize that I really like you.
So, let's spend Christmas together!
- Kotetsu"
There was a rather childish drawing of a tiger next to his name.
Barnaby set down the note, then checked his watch.
He had thirty minutes to get on the next train to Oriental Town.

This isn't healthy, he knows.
They're both so different, these days. Kotetsu's power grows stronger every time he uses it, but with each time, he changes, just a little bit more. He grows angrier, more bitter, more aggressive, so different from the man he first met.
And it scares them both, to know that with each use of his Hundred Power, Kotetsu grows darker, more fearsome. Less like himself.
Barnaby moves in when he finds out about it, signing some kind of unspoken agreement when he steps into his partner's house. The first night he's there, he wakes up to the sounds of sobbing.
He rushes up the stairs, swearing at the crick in his neck (he should've taken something more comfortable than the couch) and opens the door to Kotetsu's bedroom to find the man curled up in a shivering ball, glowing orange in the middle of the wrecked remains of his bedroom.
"Oh, god, Bunny," he mutters into his shoulder when he holds him close, trying to summon up some laughter. "Sorry if I woke you up."
"How long has this been going on?" he asks.
"You remember when I went all 'whoosh' and 'bang' when we were chasing after the backstage thief?" Kotetsu answers, and Barnaby feels a weight settle in his gut as he calculates the amount of time--two months. "My power's been changing, Bunny. And...I think I'm changing with it."
The next day, he makes fried rice, calls Lloyds and tells him that they'll be taking a vacation for a while. He's not sure how long.
"I didn't know you cooked fried rice," Kotetsu remarks, smiling like last night didn't happen (and he hates that too-casual smile, wishes he'd tell him the truth for once).
"I taught myself to cook it," he replies.
They slip into playful banter, yet Barnaby senses that it feels off, somehow, and that it's only going to be the first thing to change.
He barely gets any sleep these days. He spends his nights making sure his partner is safe, that he doesn't scare the neighborhood cats or do worse when he's in one of those episodes. Sometimes he kisses him, just to calm him down.
Perhaps that's why he's starting to fall with Kotetsu, now.
This isn't healthy, he knows. He's losing sleep over it.
He decides, when Kotetsu kisses back, rough and long, that he doesn't care.
